This past Tuesday I found out that I got into the NYC Half-Marathon Presented by NIKE on July 27th. My sister and I will again team up as running buddies and take on the streets of Manhattan. This will be my third 1/2 marathon but my first in over a year. For the NYC 1/2 we'll be running around Central Park, head south to Time Square, turn on 42nd St. then head south along the Hudson River and finishing in lower Manhattan. As a race warm up I'll be running in the Komen Race for the Cure® next Saturday.
I have been training for a few weeks but now have to start putting in farther long runs on the weekends, so this Sunday I'll be out on the road running 8 miles. It's starting to get "very" hot here on the east coast so it's time to start wearing the old fuel belt and bring along some Power Gel. Next week my child gets out of school so I'll be juggling my weekly runs around 6:00 am and my cross training at the gym at night. Thank goodness I have a very patient husband.
Anyone else out there running in the NYC 1/2?

Is this half-marathon an exclusive event, Ciao? You're very lucky to have a running mate in your sister. I wish I knew someone who had the same pace as me so I could have company.
1It's a lottery. I got in probably because I live out of state. My sister lives in the NY area and actually didn't get in, but she contacted NY Road Runners club and they included her partly because she said her running buddy got in to the race. I run mostly by myself with my iPod or with a local Fleet Feet women's running group once a week.
2I'm going to have to stick with my trusty iPod.
Most people in this area complain
it's too hot outside to run on the road. I can't do the treadmill... I have a very short attention span. Plus after my slip-and-fall incident (funny though it was), I've about had it with
those machines
Glad your sister got in like that though! It was nice of them to do.
3How fabulous. Congratulations! This will really be a wonderful event, and I have a genuine appreciation for the work that must go into the training. Best of Luck, CB!
