To get me back in the swing of the road race scene, I registered for this 5K on the 14th. Mostly I'm doing it to get an idea for my per-mile time (so I can beat it in a month or two) and get used to there being so many people around me when I'm running, since I tend to zone out completely with my iPod in the early-morning or late-evening nearly empty streets.
I know I need new running shoes, but I'm really freaking out at the prices. It seems like they've gone up dramatically since I purchased my asics in November, but I know I need a new pair since I'm starting to feel a pull in my calves and lower back right after my run.
Can't wait to post my time and some pictures!
Prescriptives
New shoes, even though pricey, are key. I am a New Balance girl and just got some new sneaks. They are now broken in and running fine and my knee pain is all but gone.
1I know, Fit. But it's going to have to wait for now. I just got a $375 dental bill.
2Good luck with your 5K! Does that race start very early so the runners avoid running in the heat?
3It starts at 7. Which is fairly early, but it'll get hot very quickly. Luckily it's a short race!
