Marathon season is officially under way, woo-hoo! I have to admit I love hearing that so many of you are in training or have completed a race. It motivates me to lace up and hit the pavement even more. Heck, even some of my own friends have finished running in their first long-distance races this year. Kudos!
Since so many of you wrote that running in longer races was one of your fitness goals in our Get Fit For 2010 community group and contest, I'm wondering how many of you signed up to compete. I'm hoping that you're all taking the leap and that your training is going well. I especially hope that you're staying injury-free. If this is your first race and your nerves are starting to set in, don't worry — you will be able to tackle your first marathon with ease, I know it. If you're still looking for a race, head on over to Active.com; they have a complete listing of all kinds of events.
Tell me . . .

I am also signed up for my first ulramarathon! I am participating in a 24 hour race and I hope to run 50 miles.
1I *will* run a half-marathon this year, even if the thought of running for that long scares me.
2Hopefully, I'll get the lottery for the NYC marathon but if not, I'll try to run with team for training but either way -- I'm determined to get in!
3I'm running at 15K at the end of the month!
4I've already done a half this year, and I'm doing a kilomathon at the end of the week (26.2 km) and hoping to get a nike women marathon slot (did the SF marathon last year, not a course I'd like to repeat -- seriously last 6 miles downhill OACHIES)
5I'm running the GO! St. Louis half marathon on April 11th, and I've entered the lottery for the NYC Marathon, so we shall see!
Laellavita - Hopefully we both get in to NYC!
Anonymous #5 - I ran the Nike Women's Marathon last year and it was awesome!
6I am running the LA Marathon next weekend,I will be doing the Trail of Two Cities half marathon in the fall and will also be doing my first triathalon in the fall.
TrnSmleShiftRpt I am envious that you will be running your first ultra, thats awesome! I have always wanted to do one but I have been a little unsure about it. I think I just need to suck it up and sign up already!
7Wow, all you marathoners and half-marathoners inspire me. I signed up for my first 5K in many, many years, the Revlon Run/Walk for Women in LA.
8my first full marathon last weekend in new orleans, la jolla half in april, and nike women's marathon in october! NOTHING compares to crossing that finish line, not even the cliched accounts you hear!
9laellavita: so glad you're considering team in training for nyc! did that for rock n roll mardi gras & it was the greatest experience of my life :]
10i am doing the see jane run champagne and chocolate 1/2 marathon in june! i started training two weeks ago.
11Soldier Field 10-miler. If there were a button for "other" I would have clicked it
12tlsgirl, I am with you! I want to do the SFM half. Leilanic, where is that?! It sounds amazing.
13First time in almost 6 years I won't be running a marathon or doing a triathlon (or an Ironman)... babyrunningesq making his or her appearence in October !
14Congrats runningesq!
I ran the Surf City Half last month, I've signed up for the SF Half in July, and I'll be doing the Long Beach Half (maybe full??) in October! I'm actually really bummed, I want to run the Nike Women's Half, but it's on the same day as Long Beach, and I have to run in Long Beach if I want the California Series Jacket and Medal! (Which was my motivation for running all these halves in the first place!)
15I just finished my first 5k last weekend! I was so excited! I've got quite a few 10ks this year, but the one I'm really looking forward to is the Gold Coast Marathon 10k, in July. (I'm in Brisbane Australia, so it's not much of a distance to travel)

16Got snowed out of Myrtle Beach marathon this year - bummer. Have been sick/injured but have a full calendar this year. Three weeks consecutive - Shamrock full, Around the Bay (30k) and Charlottesville 10 miler. Yikes! Also have another 1/2 (Park to Park in Waynesboro, VA) and am looking at Cleveland for a BQ attempt. I'll be ready for a nice easy summer!
17I'm stepping up from the 5k to the 10k. I'm so nervous because I don't have the best endurance, but I'm optimistic because I completed 5 5ks last year, which I didn't think I could do.
18my shortest plan race this year is a marathon - and only as part of an IronMan relay.. My other races are 50miles, 100km, and 100miles....
19Congrats runningesq! That's a fantastic reason to give up races for a bit!
I'm sticking with 5ks while I get back in running form post-baby. So far I have 4 on the calendar. I'd also like to run a 10k at some point this year.
20Two mud runs this year, a 5k and a 10k. Woo hoo!
21Oh yeah! I forgot about the Warrior Dash in April!
22I am training to run my first Half-marathon in May at Shiprock Marathon in Shiprock,NM. Beautiful run in the southwest and along the shiprock its self. Did the relay last year and thought why not try the Half.
23I ran my third half marathon this year, and am planning on doing at least two more this year. I'm also considering doing a full marathon!
24Doing the Teva Mtn Game Mud Run
