Are You Running in a Race This Year?
Marathon season is officially under way, woo-hoo! I have to admit I love hearing that so many of you are in training or have completed a race. It motivates me to lace up and hit the pavement even more.
Compression Socks

In the Fashion and Style section of today's New York Times newspaper there is an article that caught my interest called "Gear Test, Compression Socks" (see http://www.nytimes.com/slideshow/2008/10/22/fashion/1023-PHYSICAL_index.html). During my last two half marathons I've been plagued with calf strain while running the last few miles of each race. Though I've contributed this problem with not in taking enough salt pre-race day, these socks might help with calf fatigue in future races.
Stress Fracture
Well, I've been given my just-desserts. I caved in bought new running shoes a few weeks ago, but not in enough time. I've been ignoring the pain in my right leg, chalking it up to an old break that was being particularly stubborn in the humid weather.Sugoi - Running Skirt

Ew. So... since I normally run at 5:30 am or around 9:00 pm, I didn't consider how hot it was going to be at 7:00 am in the desert.NYC Half-Marathon Presented by NIKE
This past Tuesday I found out that I got into the NYC Half-Marathon Presented by NIKE on July 27th. My sister and I will again team up as running buddies and take on the streets of Manhattan. This will be my third 1/2 marathon but my first in over a year.Colossal Cave 5K
To get me back in the swing of the road race scene, I registered for this 5K on the 14th. Mostly I'm doing it to get an idea for my per-mile time (so I can beat it in a month or two) and get used to there being so many people around me when I'm running, since I tend to zone out completely with my iPod in the early-morning or late-evening nearly empty streets. I know I need new running shoes, but I'm really freaking out at the prices.Top Brands
